Welcome to my About page. The about page from my weblog DivitoDesign. You see that dude in the
top-right corner? That’s me (in a self-made-illustration-thing!). My name is Stefan Vervoort and I live in the Netherlands.
I am a seventeen year old guy currently following a pre-university secondary education on a school in Waalwijk, The Netherlands. What I will be studying next? I have no idea. We will find out soon enough, as I am in the pre-exam year.
Right now, you might be asking yourself, why is he already blogging on such young age. I will bore you with my small computer history.
My Computer history
11 - 13 year
Since my 11 until my 13th year I have intensively been playing games like Soldier of Fortune 1 (!). Great game. I stopped gaming when I came to the conclusion there was more to do with the computer. So I left the gaming community.
After that gaming period I’ve developed some HTML and Adobe Photoshop skills and I used it to create forum ’signatures’. You know, those graphical images with a name, under a forum post. Together with some gaming and real-life friends, I had put together a signature-design forum named Qlimix.
That forum gathered almost 800 members in a short year. Run by a couple 13-year olds, that’s quite cool, right? Unfortunately, this forum died and never shined again…
14 year
We are moving on, I am a 14-year old and I started develop some interest for webdesign. With my focus on the software skinning side - like vBulletin and phpBB - and in April 2005, DivitoDesign.com got registered. By the way, Divito is a junction between Devita (my gaming name) and Isento (real-life design buddy).
A bit older - Now
When I grew a bit older, I wished to make some money from webdesign and I start developing my skills some more. I learned some more about HTML, CSS and PHP. The first money was made ($15 USD for a 10-page website!) and I thought this was the way to go. After doing this for some time, I found myself educating other people. Thát was my way to go.
On the old Qlimix forum I had written some PHP and HTML tutorials and I really liked to help people out. I had heared the name Wordpress somewhere in the design community and I downloaded it. My main intention was to keep the blog as side-aspect, but it finally took over my “webdesign”-career.
One-and-a-half year later, the blog is still there. The weblog you are browsing today. And DivitoDesign will stay for some time!
Woow
That’s quite a big read and I thank you for staying with me during this computer-life-walk-through. Now, I will not waste any more of your valuable time and enjoy the blog.
If you have anything you would like to tell me or would like to know, please contact me. I enjoy reading mail written by humans (I get those spammy messages all day), and I will always send you a message back!
